Insurance and Camera

I've purchased my insurance, I've had more communication with my host family, and all I'm waiting for now is contact from my host club!  I've even got a tentative departure date...August 23rd, to arrive in Paris on August 24th.  Apparently my host family is taking days off to show me Paris first thing.  I'm so excited!!!!!

I've also bought a camera, so I can take pictures of my adventures and put them on this blog...Look forward to a much more colorful blog experience soon.

Au revoir,

Sophia

Host Family!

As you have probably guessed from the title of this post, I got my host family! They are a lovely family of five (plus one Great Pyrenees mountain dog), and they live 15 miles north/northeast of Paris. Paris!!!! I am so excited. I'll have one host brother and two host sisters, only one of the sisters will be on exchange in Mexico while I'm there. I'm just completely over the moon about meeting them, and I had a long conversation with the sister going to Mexico on facebook this morning. It sounds like they're going to be a great family, and I already feel very welcomed.

Yay!

Next step: Wrangling with the visa, the insurance, and the flight. It's not gonna be fun, but I don't mind too much...As long as I end up in France!

District Conference/General Update

Okay, I know I promised I would tell about the District Conference as soon as I got back, but I'm sorry, life happened. So I'm telling you about it now. I had a totally FANTASTIC time! I got to know all the other exchange students from my district, met a lot of Rotarians, learned a lot about being an exchange student, and got a start on my blazer (pictures coming soon). However, I did not get to find out where I'm specifically going. Newest date for that is the beginning of June, which is, as of today, now. I'm anxious to find out, not only because I want to know where I'm going to be spending the next year of my life, but also because I need to know where I'm going to be staying/going to school in order to get started on my visa.

That aside, I'm getting steadily more excited, as you can imagine! If I leave in the beginning of August, that means I've got only 2 months before departure...so much to do, so little time!
